Lake Tahoe Sledding & Tubing
When the snow falls in Lake Tahoe, thousands of people come out to play on the mountain slopes and in the alpine resorts. The whole area turns into a winter wonderland where the bright winter sun bounces off the pristine white snow fields as the Sierra Nevada Mountains tower over the lake. It is a beautiful time of year and ideal for children to enjoy the snow.
Sledding, tubing, and flying down a slope on a saucer, are all great for the kids to have some fun. And it isn’t only the kids who can enjoy these simple activities—adults can also revisit their childhood memories while sledding down a hill. Soon the whole family will be shrieking with laughter!

Lake Tahoe Sledding & Tubing -- Continue
There are lots of places to enjoy some sledding or tubing action in Lake Tahoe during the winter months. Various tubing parks operate in the winter season and all of them offer the necessary equipment for your enjoyment.
At Squaw Valley, the snow tubing park is located at the Papoose Discovery Area. There are two tubing lanes maintained to provide a variety of thrills for all ages and levels. Tickets to use the tubing lanes can be purchased from the Papoose Learning Center. Because the tubing space is limited, sessions may sell out during peak times.
Soda Springs Resort offers sledding and tubing and a plastic saucer is provided. Smaller children can enjoy the more sedate speeds of the Little Dipper. Tubing lift tickets include the use of a snow tube.
Heavenly Resort offers tubing within the Adventure Park and part of the fun is the 2.4 mile ride up the mountainside in the Gondola.
Adventure Mountain is South Lake Tahoe’s premier sledding hill and snow play area. There are over 40 acres of winter playground at a base elevation of 7,200 feet. There are 14 groomed sledding runs, plus rest rooms and a concession stand. Use of the sled hill is free of charge, although parking is $15. It is open 7 days per week, subject to weather conditions.
Northstar at Tahoe has a tubing hill. Saucers and sleds are not permitted in the tubing area. Tubes and riders are transported up the hill on a tow lift and tickets can be purchased from the Tubing Center or any Northstar ticketing location. Tickets cost $18 for the first hour and $10 for each additional hour.
So give it a try: race your friends and family down the slopes!
