Lake Tahoe, high up in the Sierra Nevada Mountains, is an extremely popular holiday destination. Visitors travel from huge distances to sample the many activities and amenities on offer, from skiing in winter, to boating in the summer.

Golfing is one of the many none water based activities available for visitors to Lake Tahoe. Every year, the famous American Celebrity Golf Championship Tournament takes place in July, at Edgewood Tahoe, one of Lake Tahoe’s most spectacular golf courses. Edgewood is considered one of the most challenging and scenic of all the golf courses on Lake Tahoe and is rated by Golf Digest Magazine as one of “America’s Top Golf Courses”.

There are also plenty of other golf courses on Lake Tahoe to test your drive and accuracy.

The Incline Village Championship Course has fairways surrounded by towering Ponderosa pines. You play through the forest until the course opens up with some spectacular lake views. The Incline Village Mountain Course is a real treat for golfing fans as it has no artificial landscaping and is a real challenge to play.

Northstar-at-Tahoe is another challenging course with some spectacular views. Resort at Squaw Creek, winding along the valley floor, has had a mention in Golf Magazine as one of the “Top Ten Courses You Can Play”.

Tahoe Paradise and Tahoe City golf courses both offer attractive scenery and great facilities. For families, there is the Bijou Municipal Golf Course where other amenities include a recreation centre and swimming pool complex, plus a kids club on site.

Many golf courses now allow you to book your tee time online before you travel. They all offer practice facilities and driving ranges and are happy to cater for both novices and experienced players.

Prices will vary between golf courses, but a typical cost for 18 holes / cart up to 3pm, would be $84. Between 3-5pm, it would be $64, and after 5pm, the cost is $39. Many of the golf courses also offer special packages for larger groups.

Most of the Golf courses on Lake Tahoe have clubhouse facilities which include bars and restaurants, plus PGA Professionals as staff members.
