El Dorado County Fair
Lake Tahoe (June 17th – June 20th)

This year’s El Dorado County Fair will take place June 17th – June 20th at El Dorado County Fairgrounds in Placerville. This wonderful event promises to keep you and your family fully entertained for four days with dozens of exciting attractions and shows to watch each day.

On Thursday and Friday, you can see the Nevada Gunfighters wow you with their skills, and on Thursday night, Whiskey Dawn are playing a country music concert on the Wells Fargo Stage. The El Dorado Rose Pageant is also on Thursday. There is the Ultimate Elvis Experience on Saturday, plus at 7pm, there will be an exciting Destruction Derby and at 8pm Lou Gramm of Foreigner is playing live on the main stage. Also on Sunday, there is the Polynesian Show, Wheelbarrow Racing, Halie O’ Ryan and Johnny D concert, plus lots, lots more.

During the four days, there are also plenty of shows to keep younger children amused. Ranger Ken will be telling Campfire Tales in the Kid’s Corral at various intervals, Planet Animal takes place daily on the main lawn, and the Amazing Harmonatras will be performing regular shows of children’s interactive music in the Kid’s Corral. Flo the Clown will also be on hand at various points to raise a smile from even the weariest of little ones.

For those who reside within El Dorado and have a talent they want to show off to the world, why not register for a place in the El Dorado Idol Contest. Only solo performers are allowed and children under of the age of 18 need written consent. Acts will be judged on talent, stage presence, and entertainment value—so give it a go!

If you are a local band in high school, or younger, and you have oodles of talent, then sign up for the Battle of the Bands. Bring your own instruments, perform for 20 minutes, and you might be in with a chance of winning the $250 first prize.

Tickets for the El Dorado Fair can either be bought online in advance, or on the day at the entrance ticket booths. Children under 6 go free and there are various concessions available, so please check the El Dorado Fair website for further details. There is also a special Father’s Day package available for advance purchase. Carnival rides are priced extra from fair admission and unlimited ride wristbands can be bought in advance for a special price of $25.
